The Ruff Life Story

Growing Sunflowers & Raising Bees

In 2023, it started as a "Wouldn't it be cool if...?" and has grown this year to dedicating nearly our entire property to planting sunflowers and keeping bees.

Our farm started with one small row of flowers planted by hand (in the image shown) with the intent of making my wife smile. Let's just say that it worked... It has since grown each year to now taking up a vast majority of our property.

We are looking forward to inviting our neighbors in the region to come wander through our field and pick sunflowers to take home while enjoying friends, family, and the outdoors.

We protect our soil and pollinators without chemical pesticides, relying instead on natural cover cropping and mechanical tillage to improve soil health.

Pollinator-Friendly Sanctuary

Our sunflower fields provide a massive forage area for thousands of honeybees and wild pollinators.

U-Pick Experience

Pick-Your-Own Sunflowers

Walk through our beautiful fields, pick your own bouquet, and take home some fresh, hand-cut sunflowers to brighten up your home.

Visitor Guidelines

  • Stems & Extras: Sunflowers are just $1 per stem! We also have small ($1) and large ($2) mason jars available for purchase to hold your bouquet, or feel free to bring your own vase or bucket.
  • What to Bring: We recommend closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and your own shears (though we will have some clippers available for loan).
  • Photography: Personal photos are highly encouraged! Professional photographers, please check our FAQ for permit info.
  • Bees & Wildlife: As a natural, pollinator-friendly environment, our fields are home to active honeybees and local wildlife (think the occasional groundhog, snake, fox). Please watch your step and respect their habitat.
  • Dogs & Pets: We absolutely love dogs! However, we aren't ready to host other four-legged friends at this time because our own resident senior pup is dog-anxious. Please leave your pets at home.
  • Bathrooms: Please plan your visit accordingly, as there are no public restrooms or bathrooms available on site.

Harvested directly from our own hives. Unprocessed, unpasteurized, and full of natural flavor.

Hive to Table

Our raw honey is bottled right here on the farm. Our bees forage on our sunflowers and nearby wildflowers, giving the honey a naturally smooth and delicious flavor without any processing or additives. You might notice the taste is slightly different every year depending on the spring weather.

Never heated, never filtered: We bottle our honey in small batches. This means all the natural pollen, beneficial enzymes, and rich antioxidants remain completely intact. It's honey exactly as the bees intended.
